Beastie - The Artist
‘Beastie’ is a movement; a love affair with nature and all the authenticity she has to offer. A form of expression in the abstract, harnessing the richness of bold colours and nature-emulating textures. Beastie’s works are set to the tone of the natural vistas they portray and represent. Challenging the conventional norms, to a large extent, a key value Beastie holds dear is ‘sustainable expression’: portraying ‘landscapes under threat’ with use of primarily sustainable materials. Landscapes across Northern Ireland and Kent, particularly, have served Beastie’s mission here.
Inspired by fleeting memories from both early and current phases of life, Beastie has been creating abstracts in earnest since 2020. Inspired by the glories of nature, a world of abstract expression grew from the need for creating a spontaneous artistic ‘flow’ of colour and gradated textures. Spontaneous and mindful approaches to work, have been driven, ostensibly, by looking to run ‘counter’ to the increasingly clinical world we all inhabit.
Hailing originally from West London, Beastie now bases herself primarily in rural Kent; where the vistas that inspire her works abound. Charting a way through the often-converging world of abstract, Beastie’s works stand for something a little different. A vivid expression of the ‘inner child’, expressing their wondrous awe of nature and all she evokes. In many of her works discordance and harmony compete for attention on the same canvas- reflecting the natural juxtaposition that forms her works’ genesis. Beastie is also part of the ‘Canterbury Makers’ community - helping to draw together a diverse range of artisan arts and crafts producers from across Kent.
